Bashar's Formula of Highest Excitement - Putting it into practice
Looking back on my journey in physical reality, I’ve had what many would call big manifestation success over the past decades. Commonly sought-after desires such as seven-figure amounts of money, my dream relationship, a beautiful beach house on the ocean with a mix of fun adventures thrown in such as DJing in Amsterdam, invitations on private yachts, and over a dozen Abraham-Hicks hot seats.
Pre-spiritual me working in the tech startup world recognized that those who ran successful companies were the leaders who had a keen sense of intuition. Those who had a strong rational sense of logic and laser focus - but also allowed their intuition to lead the way, sometimes over rational decision-making.
Reflecting on my path I now recognize that my spiritual journey began when I started to listen to my inner nudge. At one point I could no longer ignore the gut feeling that I wasn’t meant to be living most of my life in a cubicle waiting for retirement. That inner nudge that life was supposed to be easier than this. I listened to that nudge, and the nudges that followed, and that’s when everything changed. This is what led me to higher timeline realities.
Having studied Abraham-Hicks, Bashar, and other metaphysical teachers, I now recognize that I’ve lived much of my life following what Bashar calls The Formula of Highest Excitement. When we follow our highest excitement, to the best of our ability with no attachment to the outcome - as Bashar explains, magical synchronicities begin to take place. Reality unfolds in ways that often defy conventional logic - through this formula that anyone can apply. It’s what most people might unknowingly refer to following your passion (but in a slightly more deliberate way) - because your passion and highest excitement ultimately go hand in hand.
In the words that follow, I’m going to break down each step in Bashar’s formula of highest excitement in my own words, my interpretation, which I believe will help those looking to put it into practice in the most effective way possible
Step 1 - Act on your excitement, your passion, whatever is most exciting to you, in the moment. Do this every moment that you can.
In my opinion, the word excitement is a little strong. If I were to rename the formula, I would call it “Impulse-based living”. My interpretation here is that of all things available to you in your now moment, act on the one that lights you up the most. The one that is the most exciting based on all options. In one moment, for example, the most exciting thing may be to take a nap. Are naps exciting? Usually not. This is where most people who struggle with the formula get confused, stating that there are rarely moments of true excitement throughout the day, and I agree.
So in other words, Step 1 is not about seeking excitement but choosing the most exciting thing you can act upon out of all available options. To me, these feel more like following impulses than chasing excitement. These might both sound the same, but there is a subtle difference. Personally, I've dropped the word excitement in favor of following the best feeling impulse.
Step 2 - Do this to the best of your ability. Take it as far as you can go until you cannot take it any further.
The second step is straightforward. Or is it? Take it as far as you can until you can take it no further. Where people tend to get confused here is knowing how far to take it. In my opinion, it’s about being aware of the energetics you’re practicing as you’re in the action step. Taking it as far as you can take doesn’t mean exerting yourself until you find yourself in the energetics of effort, struggle, or burn yourself out.
Step 2, and understanding when to pivot to the next excitement or impulse, is about knowing and discerning when the action begins to turn into effort. When resistance begins to creep in. There are a few signs to look out for such as fatigue, struggle, negative emotions such as frustration, or lack of flow. Recognizing when to pivot is a skill that develops with practice.
Step 3 - Act on your excitement/passion with absolutely no insistence, assumption, or expectation of what the outcome should be.
Step 3 may be the most difficult, the age-old topic of detachment. My advice for detachment is to understand one important thing.
The unfolding is not about the end goal but about the journey itself. It’s about the moments of deliciousness you find yourself in as you act on the excitement.
I remember when I wrote Power Manifesting, the first draft was done in a matter of weeks and the book has since sold nearly 10,000 copies with a 5-star Amazon rating. My intention when writing was not to write a life-changing book but to enjoy the process of channeling each word onto paper. The deliciousness of the exploration of the topics in each chapter. This not only made the process flow with ease and effortlessness but unfolded into a better-than-expected outcome.
In my opinion, if something excites you, the journey should also unfold with ease when we are well calibrated to it. That doesn’t mean there are no experiences of contrast along that journey (we’ll address this in a bit) - but in the allowance of the unfolding, from a place of detachment, the journey will continue to unfold.
The key to step 3 success is allowing yourself to be immersed in the experience of the unfolding, being as present in it as much as possible.
Step 4 - Choose to remain in a positive state regardless of what happens.
Step 4 is tricky for those who aren’t aware of the vibrational nature of reality or for those who aren’t living in their power. Most people aren’t tending to their vibrational state of being, and when the path of excitement isn’t unfolding, they drop into defeat, victimhood, or perhaps powerlessness. They give external meaning or stories as to why things are not proceeding the way they want - rather than exploring the vibrational root cause. If you’re reading this article you likely are aware that reality is a projection of your consciousness. You also know that by dropping into negative states you propagate these unwanted experiences back into your reality.
The key here, as Arbaham-Hicks continues to say, is in knowing that things are always working out for you. Through this practiced state of receptivity, where you know that your contrast is always serving you and guiding you to higher levels of expansion, you experience much more ease and flow through the whole process.
I would suggest not only remaining in a positive state to the best of your ability but also practicing the story that all circumstances in your reality serve you because, from this vantage point, they always will.
Step 5 - Constantly investigate your belief systems. Release & replace the un-preferred beliefs: fear-based beliefs, and the beliefs not in alignment with who you prefer to be.
The final step, and likely the most important, is understanding that source has you on a path and your excitements are the trail of crumbs being used to guide you down that path. Most people understand this yet forget that the path is not a physical path, but a vibrational one. Your higher self is not leading you to a physical destination but to a vibrational one. A more expanded, empowered, and aware you. The purpose of the path is your expansion. The bringing about of circumstances to help bring about your growth so that you can find your power, experience more of your source self-connection, and express more into the world of who it is you came here to be.
Reality is simply a mirror, a cooperative component of this process.
For example, the materialization of your ideal relationship cannot happen if you carry wounds where you perceive yourself as unlovable, not good enough, or undeserving. Knowing your desire for a relationship source will co-create circumstances to heal those wounds. They may guide you straight into a relationship where you are cheated on, for example, not to punish you - but to help you to bring awareness to and heal those wounds. A necessary step on the path to your ultimate desire for your dream relationship.
Step 6 - Be discerning of the origin of the excitement.
Although Bashar’s formula of highest excitement is broken down into 5 steps, I’m going to throw in one final step that, in my opinion, will benefit the experience for those committed to following the path.
It is important to be cognizant of the source of your excitement and impulses.
We have two minds, the human mind and the higher mind. The excitements of the human mind may not always be reflective of those of the higher mind. This is not to invalidate the human mind's desires, excitements, and impulses. But, it is important to recognize and ask ourselves - what is the source of this excitement or impulse? Discern its origin by pinpointing what it is fueled by and calibrated to. My advice is to follow those excitements you believe are in accordance with living your highest timeline, as much as possible - assuming that living your highest timeline is what you desire.
What do you think?
I’ll finish this article by reminding you that this is my interpretation of the Formula of Highest Excitement and how I’ve been using it to my benefit. Take what resonates for you, and of course, throw away the rest.
